Call for nominations: Group of Chief Scientific Advisors

We are pleased to announce the launch of the nomination process for top-level scientists to join the Group of Chief Scientific Advisors (GCSA) to the European Commission. This esteemed group plays a pivotal role within the Scientific Advice Mechanism (SAM), delivering independent, high-quality, and timely scientific advice on key policy matters to the College of European Commissioners.

The GCSA consists of seven members, each selected for their exceptional expertise and broad vision. These advisors provide insights into critical scientific developments, encompassing both interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research. In collaboration with the Scientific Advice for Policy by European Academies (SAPEA) project, the GCSA draws on a wealth of knowledge across engineering, humanities, medicine, natural, and social sciences from over 100 academies and societies across Europe.

European science and research organizations are invited to nominate outstanding candidates who meet the criteria stated in the call for nominations. The selection process will be overseen by an independent, high-level Identification Committee, with final appointments made by the Commissioner responsible for research and innovation.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the future of science and policy in Europe. We encourage you to submit your nominations and participate in shaping the scientific landscape of tomorrow.
