#ResearchMatters: FEAM Urges Increased Research & Innovation Funding

In response to the pressing global challenges facing Europe today, the Federation of European Academies of Medicine (FEAM) has joined a coalition of leading research and innovation organizations in signing an influential open letter titled “A call to strengthen research and innovation in Europe“. This letter calls for a substantial increase in funding dedicated to research and innovation across Europe, emphasizing the critical need to bolster Europe’s capabilities in scientific and technological advancement.

The open letter underscores the urgency of enhancing investment in research and innovation to tackle current and future challenges effectively. Key points of the letter include:

  • Achieving 3% GDP investment
  • Doubling FP10 budget
  • Protecting budget allocation

FEAM’s participation aligns with the broader goals of the Research Matters campaign, a collaborative effort involving universities, research organizations, industry partners, and communication professionals across Europe. This initiative aims to mobilize support from decision-makers, stakeholders across various sectors, media, and citizens at local, national, and European levels.

By signing this open letter, FEAM and the other partners are advocating for policymakers to prioritize and allocate the necessary resources to research and innovation. This collective effort seeks to ensure that Europe remains at the forefront of global research and innovation, driving progress and shaping a brighter future for all.
